Monsoon Wedding

Planning to (more like, need to) attend a wedding next week. It is monsoon time in God's own country and I am hoping the monsoon wedding does not disappoint or atleast the monsoon doesn't.It has been 6+ years since I have been in full attendance for a wedding ( last one being , my own ), not sure if the procedures or the processes have changed in this short span of time, anyways it doesn't matter. For some reason the various visuals from Nandanam ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357946/) is coming to my mind whenever I am thinking about the wedding. The real life parallels I am led to believe are not much, the movie revolves around a wedding (not sure if that was in the monsoon time , there are a few rain scenes but that is not conclusive enough), the happenings are in a place near by to where I am going and I suspect there will be celluloid like larger than life, colourful characters.None of that dampens my enthusiasm , the monsoon beckons and so does that little idol of the ...

FIFA World Cup is in full bloom. Enjoying it thoroughly , nothing like watching a ferocius football match at midnight with rain lashing out on your windows.Vuvuzela, rain, wind, vuvuzela, rain ... bliss.. half asleep ... GOAL !! Fascinated by the various ways one can tackle a oppostion player who is running super fast with the ball ((without getting penalized)).An important step to succeed in this 'art' is to tap on the fallen 'hero''s shoulder and outstretch your palm to give him a helping hand off the ground. I am walking to my car after a sumptous lunch at the ' almost shady' Mallu mess near office when a bike cut right across my path and came to a stop. I gave my customary ineffective stare at the bike driver and was walking on when I noticed the people scrambling off the bike. A 40 something goon , his 30 something understudy and a 5-6 year old boy with long hair got off the bike in that order and walked towards the Nippan (translation from Malayalam : stand and deliver) liquor bar/store that was right opposite to my ' almost shady' lunch house.By now I had really slowed down my walk and the sight of the kid walking into the bar made me stop completely. The ' almost goon' exchanged a few words with the bar tender and the bar tender disappeared behind a pil...
